About Me

Sofia is a Filipino-American writer, composer, and music director based in Brooklyn, NY. Her creative work spans projects ranging from children’s TV to adult speculative fiction, fiction podcasts, and spooky musicals. Fusing fantasy, psychology, and her own multiracial background, her stories celebrate empathy, self-discovery, and curiosity about others’ perspectives. Whether navigating fantastical worlds or real-world challenges — or both at once — her characters tackle complex identities, social responsibilities, ethical dilemmas, and the occasional existential crisis with humor and heart.

Sofia was a 2022 GBH Kids Scriptwriting Fellow, and her writing features in the 2023 GBH/PBS Kids animated series Work It Out Wombats!. Other children’s media credits include music videos for Sesame Street and an original song for the Sesame Studios web series Gnome Bros.

Her musical theater work is inspired by the unheard voices of New York City’s past and present, and she has composed and music directed shows featured at Caveat, The Brick Theater, Dixon Place, and Musical Theatre Factory. She graduated from Barnard College, Columbia University, where she majored in Creative Writing and Psychology, and is a proud alumni of Columbia’s annual student-composed musical satire The Varsity Show.
