Sofia is a Filipino-American writer, composer, and music director based in Brooklyn, NY.

Her creative work spans children’s TV, speculative fiction, fiction podcasts, and spooky musical theater. Fusing fantasy and psychology, her stories explore identity, empathy, and moral ambiguity in worlds just slightly askew, balancing dark humor, surreal settings, and the occasional existential crisis with warmth and heart.

A 2022 GBH Kids Scriptwriting Fellow, Sofia’s writing and songs appear inthe animated series Work It Out Wombats! (WGBH/PBS Kids) and digital content for Sesame Street. She has also worked as a Script Coordinator on Tea Leaves Last, an independent YA fantasy animated pilot through Asians in Animation.

Her musical theater work is inspired by the unheard voices of New York City’s past and present, with original shows produced at The Brick Theater, Abrons Arts Center, and Dixon Place, and music directed shows at Caveat NYC and Musical Theatre Factory.

Sofia graduated from Barnard College, Columbia University, where she majored in Creative Writing and Psychology, and is a proud alum of Columbia’s annual student-composed musical satire The Varsity Show. She is a devoted loose-leaf tea brewer and rollercoaster enthusiast embracing the delightful contradiction of a name that means “wise fool”.
