there’s a shewolf

Composer / Music Director

Written/performed by Sarah Sanders, and performed at Dixon Place’s 2019 HOT!Fest.

Sarah is obsessed with Margaret of Anjou, and she doesn’t quite know why. In ‘there’s a shewolf,’ she sets out to get this fifteenth-century Queen of England on her own terms, retelling history with songs and red wine. But as the evening unfolds, Sarah realizes that it’s maybe her own story she’s trying to tell. Her voice and Margaret’s collide in a raw exploration of desire and power as she uncovers why she’s SO into this fiery queen. Combining original music, memoir, and the monarchy, ‘there’s a shewolf’ is an intimate cabaret about women, wanting, and wanting women.

After the end, you can’t make it all clear
But you yell to the sky: I was here, I am here…

You still have your body, and you still have your breath
After the end, there is only beginning left
